Child Abuse and Safety

 

If you suspect your spouse or a family member is abusing your children, please contact any of these resources and ask for the help you need to protect your family.

Childhelp® National Child Abuse Hotline operates a 24-hour hotline that helps abused children, troubled parents, individuals concerned that abuse is occurring and others requesting child abuse information. The hotline offers crisis intervention, information, literature and referrals. State–of–the–art technology provides translators in approximately 140 languages.

Child Care Aware, "is a non–profit initiative committed to helping parents find the best information on locating quality child care and child care resources in their community."

Child Lures® Prevention provides online articles about protecting your children from predators and publishes the, "Think First & Stay Safe Parent Guide," written by Ken Wooden.

Child Search® provides search assistance in locating missing children and operates a missing children hotline (800–316–HOPE or 281–350–KIDS). Child Search also provides crisis counseling for the families of missing children.

Child Welfare Information Gateway, "promotes the safety, permanency and well–being of children and families," by providing essential information about child abuse, safety and welfare.

Code Amber® is an early warning system to help find abducted children in danger of serious bodily harm or death. When a child is abducted, an Amber Alert is issued. Citizens with information can help by contacting law enforcement agencies immediately to give them timely information about the abduction, abductor or abductees.

National Center for Missing & Exploited Children is a private non–profit organization that helps prevent child abduction and sexual exploitation, helps find missing children, and assists victims of child abduction and sexual exploitation and their families.
